LYDIA, Philadelphia. Gaius (Caligula). 37-41 AD. Æ 17mm (4.73 g, 12h). Makedon, magistrate. Bare head right / capricorn left, bearing cornucopiae; monogram to left; MAKEDwN in exergue. RPC I 3031; SNG Copenhagen 370-371 var. (magistrate). Good VF, olive patina with traces of earthen overtones. Very rare magistrate, only three examples cited in RPC: one in Wintherthur, a second in Vienna, the third in a private collection. ($200)
